ALLEGED FRAUD: Toyin Abraham's Ex, Seun Egbegbe Finally Gets Court Date After Spending THREE Years In Prison

In case you did not know, Toyin Abraham's ex-boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe has been in prison for over three years now.

The movie marketer was arrested on charges of fraud after it was alleged that he swindled about 30 bureau de change (BDC) operatives in Lagos in both local and foreign currencies between 2015 and 2017.

The popular movie producer was then arraigned in February 2017 for the first time during which he was granted bail in the sum of N5 million by the court. His failure to meet the conditions of the bail has meant that he has remained behind bars since then.

The federal high court in Lagos has now fixed the hearing of no-case submissions in the fraud case against him for October 6.

According to the state police, he allegedly duped his victims to the total sums of N39,098,100, $90,000 and £12,550.

The former socialite had been charged with 40 counts of advance fee fraud alongside Oyekan Ayomide, Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf and Muyideen Shoyombo — his alleged accomplices — after which Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, the presiding judge, had ruled that he should be granted bail of N5 million with two sureties in the sum of N2.5 million.

According toThe Punch, the defendant will now pray the court to dismiss the charges on the ground that Innocent Anyigor, the prosecutor, failed to establish a prima facie case or prove the claims.

It is understood that following the closure of the prosecution’s case, all other defendants, except Egbegbe, who had difficulty paying his legal fees at the time, filed no-case submissions.

The defendants’ no-case submissions, which were targeted at securing their freedom, have been opposed by the police.

The court will now hear the no-case arguments on October 6.

Egbegbe rose to prominence after his affair with popular actress, Toyin Abraham. The affair, however, ended with a messy drama which went viral online.

As earlier stated, Egbegbe was well-known in Yoruba Nollywood. This was evidenced during his last birthday before his incarceration.

The party which held in June 2016 was the talk of the town. Present at the shindig were actresses which included Liz Dasilva; Adediwura Adesegha; Regina Chukwu; Nkechi Sunday; Iyabo Ojo, producer/actor Saheed Balogun; Bimbo Success and a host of others.

However, since his travails started, he has been deserted and left to fend on his own.
