As the Nigerian government takes steps to relax lockdown across states of the federation, business owners most especially those in Events and Hospitality have continued to recount their losses saying it’s time to look at ways of living and doing business even in the face of the pandemic.
In a chat with Topshotnews, the Executive Director, Fonts Hall, Akure, Mrs. Mojisola Fayankin said the coming of the pandemic was unexpected and that it had serious impact on hospitality and events business generally.
According to her, it is high time the government looked into ways of living and doing business even in the face of the pandemic as a way of rejigging the economy.
On the way forward, Mrs. Fayankin stressed that if Nigerians can maintain social distancing and other required protocols to stem the spread of COVID- 19, the government on its part should consider opening up events centre to accommodate between 50-100 guests for events
“A lot of people who were supposed to have had their event are already pregnant and so, Events and Hospitality was worst hit by this pandemic. I really wish Nigerians can learn to manage this pandemic by following required social distancing protocols.
If that is possible, I think we can move forward again. We can host about 50-100 guests in our events centre just as they now have such protocols in churches. The onus now lies on the event centres to ensure required distance is maintained”, she added.
