The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has named the Group Managing Director of Bomarah Group, Hajia Bola Muse, as its Iconic Woman of the Month for August.
The recognition, according to the association, is in honour of Muse’s leadership in the maritime and logistics sectors and her sustained humanitarian efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable and underserved communities across Nigeria.
Through the Bomarah Foundation, Muse has supported a range of grassroots interventions focused on women, children, persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
The foundation’s initiatives include financial grants, business start-up kits, food support and livelihood assistance for widows and underserved women, with the broader objective of helping beneficiaries improve their economic wellbeing and become more self-reliant.
The organisation also provides welfare packages, legal support and rehabilitation programmes for inmates and ex-offenders, while students and young people benefit from scholarship opportunities.
Persons living with disabilities are also supported through mobility aids and targeted empowerment programmes designed to promote inclusion and financial independence.
Chairperson of NAWOJ Lagos, Jumoke Falayi-Johnson, said Muse’s ability to combine corporate success with social responsibility was worthy of recognition.
She said Muse’s commitment to human rights, gender advocacy and community development reflected the values behind the NAWOJ Iconic Woman initiative.

Falayi-Johnson added that Muse’s continued interventions demonstrate the impact women leaders can make when their professional achievements are combined with a commitment to improving society.
