…Declares Free Entry for Two Months to Promote Culture and Tourism
In a landmark move to promote cultural heritage and boost tourism in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has officially commissioned the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex in Abeokuta, declaring free entry for all visitors until the end of September 2025.
The Governor made the announcement on Thursday during the unveiling ceremony of the upgraded complex, emphasizing that the initiative aims to encourage residents and tourists alike to reconnect with the state’s rich cultural history and appreciate its unique tourism offerings.
“This gesture is to inspire more people to embrace tourism, explore our roots, and experience the traditions that make Ogun State exceptional,” said Governor Abiodun.
The revamped complex features a modern galleria housing iconic artworks and photographs of distinguished Nigerians, a gazebo, a restaurant serving local and continental cuisine, retail shops offering authentic adire fabrics, and a standby generator powering newly installed elevators and other amenities for an enhanced visitor experience.
Governor Abiodun described Olumo Rock as more than a natural monument, noting that it stands as a symbol of identity, refuge, and cultural pride for the Egba people.
“Renovating this sacred site is not just about infrastructure; it’s about reviving memory, rekindling pride, and reaffirming our cultural roots,” he stated.
“Olumo Rock connects us to our history. It is a sanctuary of strength and a beacon of resilience.”
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to positioning tourism as a strategic pillar of the ISEYA development agenda, recognizing its potential to stimulate local economies, create jobs, attract investment, and foster community development.
“We will continue to invest in our cultural assets and transform them into world-class attractions that can drive sustainable growth for Ogun State,” the governor affirmed.
The renovation of the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex is part of the broader vision to reposition Ogun State as a premier cultural and tourism destination in Nigeria and beyond.
