…Renovates Classrooms, Donates Books to Government Secondary School
Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community development with the renovation of a classroom block and the donation of educational materials to Government Secondary School, Aso Pada, in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The intervention, executed under the Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP), was spearheaded by the 2025 Elite Bankers inductee class. FHHP empowers Fidelity Bank staff to identify pressing community needs, raise funds among themselves, and receive matching support from the bank to bring the projects to life.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, highlighted the significance of the project, stating that it aligns with the bank’s focus on quality education and youth empowerment. “The school was selected due to its critical role in shaping the future of the Mararaba community. It had not undergone any renovation for over 15 years. Through the dedication of our inductees and the bank’s support, this transformation was made possible,” Dr. Nwagboh said.
He further urged the school to make good use of the facilities and reiterated the bank’s continued commitment to improving access to quality education across Nigeria.
In his response, Mr. Abdullahi Idris, Vice Principal (Administration) of the school, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank, acknowledging the impact the project will have on both students and the broader community.
“Your investment in our school is an investment in the future of our nation. We are inspired by your commitment and look forward to a lasting partnership that will uplift and empower our students. Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and our community,” he stated.
This initiative adds to Fidelity Bank’s growing footprint in Nigeria’s education sector. Notably, the bank recently donated 1,000 school bags equipped with solar-powered lamps to pupils across all local government areas of Ogun State, enabling them to study after dark, especially in communities without reliable electricity.
Ranked among Nigeria’s top-performing banks, Fidelity Bank Plc is a full-fledged commercial deposit money bank serving over 9.1 million customers through robust digital channels, 255 business offices nationwide, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
