It’s a weekend of tribute and celebration as the Akinola and Olusomoka families roll out the drums to bid farewell to their beloved matriarch, Princess Rachael Adefunke Akinola (Oja), in a grand burial ceremony scheduled to hold in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Princess Akinola, aged 85, was a revered mother, grandmother, and community woman whose grace and wisdom shaped many lives. Her son, Akinola Adenitan, a top media figure with Radio Nigeria in Osun State, and his wife, Olufisoye Adenitan, are leading the family to give Mama a well-deserved celebration of life.
The two-day event begins on Friday, May 9th, 2025, with a Wake Keep at Uro-Ikere-Ekiti. The Funeral Service follows on Saturday, May 10th, at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Oke-Oluwa, Ikere-Ekiti, with a grand reception at Great Eagle’s Hall, Ikere Road, Ado-Ekiti.
The event is expected to draw dignitaries, media colleagues, and well-wishers from far and near, in honour of Mama’s enduring legacy.
