CNN International’s magazine program, African Voices Changemakers, sponsored by Globacom, will spotlight two of Africa’s most influential gospel music stars this week—Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo.
The 30-minute program will feature the renowned gospel artists, who will share their musical journeys and bring their unique gospel vibes to the show.
Nathaniel Bassey, a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and trumpeter, has gained widespread acclaim with hits such as Yahweh Sabaoth, Ebenezer, and Tobechukwu. Born on August 27, 1981, he initially studied International Relations and Politics at the University of Lagos before pursuing music at Middlesex University Summer School in the UK. His soul-stirring music continues to inspire countless fans worldwide.
Mercy Chinwo, the second guest, is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and actress who started her music career at the age of six. She signed with EeZee Conceptz in 2017 and gained widespread recognition with her debut single, Excess Love, in 2018. A recipient of numerous awards, including the Gospel Artiste of the Year at the AFRIMMA Awards 2020, Chinwo's powerful voice and captivating stage presence have made a lasting impact on the global gospel music scene.
African Voices Changemakers will air on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with repeats on Saturday at noon, Sunday at 4:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Monday at 4 a.m. The same schedule will be repeated next week.
