NUJ @ 70: NAWOJ CELEBRATES A FRONTLINE UNION AND ITS DYNAMIC LEADERSHIP

The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) proudly joins the rest of humanity in congratulating the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on its 70th anniversary. We celebrate this remarkable milestone in our union's rich and eventful history and extend our heartfelt felicitation to the leadership and members across all zones and state councils.

Over the years, NUJ has grown in leaps and bounds, and we are confident that the union will continue to experience even greater progress, solidarity, camaraderie, and professional growth. This success is a testament to a union firmly rooted in its founding principles, one that prioritizes the needs of its members. It is also exemplified by the candor and fatherly leadership of our capacity-driven President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, ably supported by the first-ever female Deputy National President, Dr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Oyetunde.

We take pride in the legacy bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers, and we remain deeply committed to strengthening and elevating the union for future generations.

As we mark this historic occasion, we pray that the Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, will continue to guide our esteemed union and its leadership towards greater achievements. May NUJ fulfill its mandate of nurturing a well-rounded membership that upholds the highest ethical standards in journalism and remains dedicated to national integrity, unity, peace, and progress.

NAWOJ expresses profound appreciation to our number one journalist in Nigeria, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, for his visionary leadership and dedication. From the moment he assumed office, he and his team have led NUJ with unwavering commitment, setting new standards of excellence.

Once again, we reaffirm our trust in your exemplary leadership and pray that your tenure will be peaceful and highly productive.

We also pray for God’s protection over all members of NUJ and their families as they continue their noble work as news managers.

Additionally, we pray for the peace, unity, and progress of our great nation, Nigeria.

Congratulations once again to all of us!

Comrade Aishatu Ibrahim
National Chairperson, NAWOJ
