POLITICS: TINUBU REPLACES ONDO REC AT INEC, APPOINTS SASEYI FEYIJIMI IBIYEMI
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Saseyi Feyijimi Ibiyemi, a lawyer, as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) representing Ondo State. This nomination was announced on Monday night through a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Ibiyemi, 58, is set to replace the late Niyi Ijalaye, who passed away in August while serving as the REC in Ogun State. Originally from Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Ibiyemi currently holds the position of Administrative Secretary at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State.
A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ibiyemi was called to the bar in 1988. She further advanced her expertise in election management, earning a Master’s degree from Bingham University in Nasarawa State.
In addition to this nomination, President Tinubu has also nominated Abdulrazak Yusuf Tukur as a National Commissioner for INEC, representing the North West. Tukur, 59, brings extensive experience from his role as Director of Electoral Operations and Logistics, where he served until December 2023.
