WHY OYO COURT SACKED OBA GHANDI OLAOYE AS SOUN 6 WEEKS AFTER HIS CORONATION

... As Court Sacks Orders Kingmakers To Pick New King

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has on Wednesday upturned the appointment of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomosoland. While delivering his judgment, Judge Adedokun who was hearing the case announced that the appointment of Oba Laoye was illegal.

He also ordered Ogbomoso kingmakers to start the right process to elect a new Soun.

Judge Adedokun earlier dismissed three petitions brought before him by one of the accusers, Prince Adeyemi Taofiq Akorede Laoye. The petitions are also challenging the appointment of the new Soun.

The Oyo State Government announced Pastor Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun and made him king on 8th September 2023. Recall that one of the contestants, who was sued for taking Soun’s position, Kabir Laoye, had appealed that Ghandi Olaoye was not eligible to take Soun’s position.

The court ordered at that time that the Oyo State government must not appoint anyone to the position until he will issued his judgment.
