OKERE OF SAKI, OBA KHALID OLABISI TO GET STAFF OF OFFICE

The throne of Okere of Saki in Saki West local government area of Oyo state became vacate 7 years ago following the demise of last Okere of Saki, Oba Kelani Olatoyese Olarinre II who died in April, 2013 at the age of 60 having rule the town for 7 years. 

In January 2020, new Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi, Ilugbemidepo III was elected as the Okere of Saki after 7 years late Oba Kelani Olatoyese Olarinre II joined his ancestors. Oba Olabisi emerged has since performed the traditional rite. Okere is the title of the stool of the king of Saki in Saki West local government area of Oyo state.

Come Thursday 11th June, 2020 Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will be presenting Staff of Office to the new okere of Saki Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi, Ilugbemidepo 111. The ceremony is billed to hold by 10 am at the palace of the monarch in Saki town in a low key as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the globe.

Oba Olabisi is from the Ado ruling house. He emerged among the 22 candidates earlier nominated to fill the vacant Okere of Saki stool. 

Following the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic in the last couple of months, Kabiyesi had been a blessing and very supportive to the people of Saki as he donates food items, cash and others palliative to his people.

Oba Khalid Olabisi, a surveyor is a graduate of the University of Lagos. He contested for Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo federal constituency in the 2007 general elections under the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and lost to Alhaji Tajudeen Abisodun Were of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
