GLO UNVEILS EXAM PREP SERVICE TO BOOST STUDENT PERFORMANCE IN UTME AND OTHER MAJOR EXAMS

In response to growing concerns over the poor performance of students in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), digital solutions provider Globacom has unveiled its Glo Examination Preparatory Service as a strategic solution to enhance students’ academic outcomes.

According to the company, the service is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in Computer-Based Tests (CBT), including the UTME, Junior and Senior West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams, and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The recently released UTME results by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on May 5 revealed a significant performance gap: over 1.5 million of the 1.9 million candidates scored below 200. Specifically, 983,187 candidates (50.29%) scored between 160 and 199, while 488,197 (24.97%) scored between 140 and 159—raising concerns among educators and stakeholders.

In a press statement issued in Lagos, Globacom explained that its preparatory platform offers a practical, targeted approach to exam readiness. “The service allows students to engage with structured learning materials and become familiar with the format, structure, and content of the exams they intend to write,” the company stated.

Glo further noted that by using the platform, students can identify weak areas, reinforce their understanding of key concepts, and develop exam-taking strategies that improve performance and confidence.

The service spans up to 20 subjects and integrates access to educational videos and daily, weekly, or monthly content updates. Students can subscribe by dialing 207916# and selecting their preferred exam category from the available options: JSCE (Junior Secondary Certificate Examination), SSCE (Senior Secondary Certificate Examination), UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and A-Levels.

In addition to providing academic support, the platform incentivizes learning by offering trivia questions based on the syllabus, with top-performing users winning airtime, data, and cash prizes.

“The service helps students actively recall and apply knowledge, which boosts long-term retention and comprehension,” Glo emphasized. “With this, we aim to empower the next generation of learners to succeed in high-stakes exams and reach their academic goals.”
